"Girlpower" (march 5 2010)
"Aside from all the fantastic outerwear and pants for fall, fall market was also all about some awesome girl power! We have met the most fantastic women on this trip! The fun started the morning we left for NYC….we meet Ana & Mariana. We first spotted each other in the security line at the airport, then at the same gate then, of course as fate would have it, on the plane. They were seated directly in front of us! That's when Ana popped her head over her seat and introduced herself. Enough with all the flirting and winking, right Ana is from Madrid and future showroom owner and Mariana is from Argentina and has an incredible handbag line, Mikai. Mikai is the first line we bought for fall…right off Jet Blue!"

"Argentine Style Meets Midwest Sensibilty" (may 21 2010)
"Your frugality peaked when a cheap handbag repair job ended up with your carryall in the garbage. Hey, you get what you pay for.
But the durability of a Mikai handbag justifies its price tag. The slouchy, buttery-soft hobos, messengers, totes, and weekenders are made with TLC by local designer Mariana Valdes and her Buenos Aires-based mother, Graciela.
From the smart Recoleta city bag to the duffel-style Pilar overnighter, all of the leather is sourced from South America (in a nod to home, the bags are also named after BA neighborhoods). Functionality (removable straps; flapped, zippered pockets) and fashion put the tasseled San Telmo at numero uno on our wish list.
There are neutrals (lead, indigo, black, and white) and warmer tones (tawny and red), all enhanced with good-looking grommets, bronze rings, and oversize leather tassels. A summer collection is in the works. And you can't afford to miss out."
